“Ghana Football Needs Comprehensive Reforms”-Carlos Queiroz

Written by MsBoye

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has called for comprehensive reforms to secure the long-term future of Ghana football following a farewell to Ghana after the team’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking after Ghana’s Round of 32 defeat to Colombia, the Portuguese tactician said he was departing with pride in the team’s achievements while believing the Black Stars possess the potential to reach even greater heights.

“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more. Reaching a higher level should never be the destination; it should be the beginning of even greater ambitions,” he said.

Looking beyond the World Cup, Queiroz emphasised that Ghana can only realise its football ambitions by investing equally in the structures that support the national team.

“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Success must start off the field by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent. Football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn.”

Queiroz also thanked the Ghana Football Association for giving him the opportunity to lead the national team.

“To my president and board, thank you for the opportunity to serve the Ghana National Football Team. It was an honour and privilege.”
