Popular Ghanaian musician Mzbel has called on the government to address the longstanding “no bed syndrome” affecting public hospitals across Ghana after the alleged death of her sister.
In a viral video, Mzbel said her family rushed her sister to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, hospital officials reportedly informed them that no beds were available for admission.
“I believe this delay ultimately cost my sister her life. Since I was born, there have been assertions of no beds, and till now the menace is still ongoing. Government must do something about it,” she said.
In addition, she lamented that the persistent shortage of beds has plagued the country’s healthcare system for decades.
