Former Director of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, remains in police custody despite the expiration of a seven-working-day remand order issued by the court.
During a court hearing on Tuesday, May 13, his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, disclosed that authorities rearrested Adu-Boahene immediately after the initial remand period ended. The new arrest, according to the lawyer, relates to a separate case.
“The issue concerns secured internet services provided to the Ghana Water Company. National Security supplied the company with equipment that allows it to monitor pipelines remotely and detect any tampering.
Police initially remanded Adu-Boahene on Friday, May 2, following allegations that he attempted to tamper with witnesses in a GH¢49.1 million cybersecurity procurement case. He faces charges of stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
