Written by Yad Media

Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka has revealed that security operatives lawfully raided the residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Ernest Addison, under a valid court warrant.

Addressing Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the interior minister insisted that the authorities followed due legal procedure during the operation.

“Mr Speaker, before the operation, officials filed an ex parte search warrant with the High Court in Accra on March 12, 2025, and the court granted the warrant in accordance with established legal procedures. Security officers conducted the search in strict adherence to due process and fully complied with the laws of the state. They carried out the operation meticulously and in the presence of the former governor,” Muntaka stated.

BACKGROUND

On the morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025, about 20 armed men led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, allegedly stormed Dr Addison’s residence at Roman Ridge in Accra demanding access to supposed vaults.
