South Africa’s Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has revealed that the economic impact of the xenophobia attacks is affecting businesses and entertainers across the continent.
In an interview, she disclosed that South African companies and artistes abroad are feeling its negative effects.
“Many artistes performing across the continent are now experiencing cancelled shows and losing international bookings.”
She further added that government operations targeting illegal immigration should not be interpreted as attacks on foreign nationals.
The comments come amid reports of xenophobia attacks that have led several African countries to evacuate their citizens.
