Parliament Begins Vetting Of Supreme Court Nominees

Written by Yad Media

Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Monday, June 16, 2025, began vetting the latest nominees to the Supreme Court, kicking off a crucial phase in the expansion of Ghana’s apex court bench.

The process opened with Justice Senyo Dzamefe, who faced a series of questions from committee members across both sides of the House.

In addition , MPs are grilling the nominees on issues ranging from constitutional law and human rights to judicial independence, legal ethics, and prior rulings.

President John Dramani Mahama submitted the names of the nominees earlier this year, and the vetting aims to assess not only their legal expertise and experience but also their temperament, integrity, and overall fitness to serve on the highest court of the land.
