Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has criticised the police for arresting young Ghanaians who brandished and fired toy guns.
In a social media post, he called the arrests “primitive” and urged the police to guide the individuals rather than take legal action.
The Ghana Police Service arrested 26 people for violating Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960, which prohibits the display and firing of toy guns.
The trend started in Kumasi, where young people relived childhood memories. Videos of the activity quickly went viral on social media, inspiring others to join.
