ECG Disconnects Ghana Water Over GH¢999.6 Million Debt

Written by Yad Media

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has cut power supply to Ghana Water Limited (GWL) over an unpaid debt of GH¢999.6 million.

Consequently, ECG has issued a 48-hour deadline for GWL to settle the arrears or risk prolonged outages at its main pumping stations, which play a crucial role in the country’s water distribution.

The disconnection, which occurred on Tuesday, June 17, forms part of ECG’s broader nationwide effort to recover debts from both public and private entities.
