“Surviving As A Musician In Ghana Is Difficult” — Camidoh

Written by MsBoye

Ghanaian Afrobeat artist Camidoh has revealed that surviving as a musician in Ghana is extremely difficult due to the financial struggles many artists face in sustaining their careers.

Speaking in an interview about the harsh realities musicians face in Ghana, the singer lamented the financial difficulties artistes endure, especially at the early stages of their careers.

“It’s very tough to be a musician in Ghana because everything that you are going to do, you are going to make a loss. In the early stages, I remember we went to do a performance and earn 700 cedis. It’s like going to do performances. Even that, it did not come,” he said.

In addition, Camidoh also criticised the lack of structures to support musicians in the country, stating that there is little to no institutional backing for the creative arts sector.
