Aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman for Ledzokuku, Stephen Niikoi Amasah, has pledged to prioritise the welfare of grassroots supporters if elected.
Addressing delegates ahead of the NDC constituency elections, Mr Amasah said the party must recognise the contributions of grassroots members beyond their efforts during election campaigns.
“The discussion should go beyond electoral victories to examine whether ordinary party members are benefiting from their commitment and hard work. People are going around saying that we need to consolidate our gains. And I keep saying that if we are consolidating our gains, what are those gains? Only electoral gains?” he asked.
Further, Mr Amasah said love and loyalty to the party remained important, but members also needed to see tangible benefits from their dedication.
“Many party members continue to demonstrate their commitment to the NDC out of love for the party, despite concerns about access to opportunities and the welfare of grassroots activists. We love the NDC. We have to look beyond the love,” he stressed
In addition, he expressed his willingness to work with delegates and other party members to address their concerns and improve the welfare of grassroots supporters.
