The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the temporal shutdown of the Teshie-Nungua Desalination Plant to carry out critical maintenance needed for safe and efficient operations.
In a statement, the company explained that it took this decision to fix long-standing technical and contractual challenges that have hindered the plant’s optimal performance.
“GWL’s management has reaffirmed its commitment to providing customers with a safe, reliable, and uninterrupted water supply.We regret the inconvenience this shutdown may cause and assure the public that we are actively engaging all stakeholders to expedite solutions and resume normal operations soon,” the statement said.
In addition, GWL also assured the public that it has implemented measures to minimise the impact of the shutdown by rerouting water from other treatment plants and prioritising supply to essential institutions.
