Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has publicly apologised after facing backlash for giving a cash donation to former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist Nana Agradaa.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, May 11, Gyamfi described the donation as a “private act of kindness” and said he had not expected it to become public. Calling the incident “unfortunate and regrettable”, he apologised to those offended by his actions.
“I sincerely thought that I was doing this act of kindness in private and never imagined that same could find its way into the public space,” he wrote. “To all such comrades, I am sincerely sorry for this unfortunate act of indiscretion. I respect and appreciate your views.”
Gyamfi further clarified that he made the donation not out of political motivation but to reflect his personal values of helping those in need. He reaffirmed his commitment to public service, stating that he remains focused on fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him by the president.
A video circulating on social media showed Gyamfi handing over dollar notes to Nana Agradaa during an event, sparking outrage among the public and political supporters who criticised his association with the controversial figure.
