Deputy Education Minister Clement Apaak has revealed that teachers who accept postings in rural and underserved areas will receive a 20% salary top-up.
Speaking during a courtesy call with top performers of the Basic Education Certificate Examination, Dr. Apaak said the government has pledge to reducing inequalities in the nation’s education system.
“Teachers assigned to remote and hard-to-reach communities will also benefit from accommodation support, in addition to the financial incentive offered under the Teacher Dabre Programme.”
He added that these measures, first announced by President John Mahama in the State of the Nation Address, aim to make rural postings more appealing and ensure that students in disadvantaged areas have equal opportunities to succeed alongside their peers in urban schools.
