Coordinator of the Blackstar Experience, the government’s flagship initiative for tourism, arts, and culture Rex Owusu Marfo has announce plans to establish a state-of-the-art film studio at Black Star Square in Accra.
Speaking at the event, Rex Owusu Marfo announced that the Secretariat is spearheading a multi-million-dollar, private-sector-led investment to establish a world-class film facility called Ananse Studios.
“The project, expected to break ground this year, will feature a Hollywood-standard production hub alongside an educational centre for creative industry talent.”
He further disclosed that the initiative will collaborate with international partners, including a group in Atlanta that annually celebrates Blackstar Week.
“We aim to rebrand Ghana and position it among the world’s top 20 tourism destinations.” The Blackstar Experience will be fasten on seven pillars: cinema, audio, cuisine, aesthetics, style, literature, and heritage,” Marfo stated.
Additionally, as part of the broader Blackstar Experience rollout, Marfo outlined several key events, including exhibition football matches featuring legendary international and Ghanaian players, the Ghana Music Week celebration, the annual Creative Connect stakeholder meeting, and the highly anticipated Detty December festivities.
