FIFA’s Chief Safety and Security Officer, G.B. Jones, is urging African football fans heading to the 2026 World Cup to review the list of prohibited stadium items before all travels.
Speaking in an interview on X by sports journalist Gary Al-Smith on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Jones revealed that although FIFA welcomes fan passion, items such as pyrotechnics, fireworks, and certain musical instruments will not be authorise inside stadiums in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
“We want you to bring your passion—but leave your pyro,” Jones said. “Don’t bring fireworks, smoke, or pyrotechnic devices into the stadium. Please check the prohibited -items list on our website or in your ticket information so you know exactly what is and isn’t approve.”
In addition, he encourages supporters to bring national flags, banners, and other cultural symbols that enrich the match-day atmosphere.
“While drums and some musical instruments are generally disallow, supporter groups can request approval through FIFA’s official website under certain conditions. We want to make sure you can bring everything that helps you celebrate within the safety limits in place,” he said.
