The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Friday, August 22, 2025, opened nominations for its parliamentary primaries in the Tamale Central Constituency.
In a statement dated Wednesday, August 20, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey announced that nomination forms are available at the party’s Northern Regional Office at a cost of GH₵5,000, with filing fees set at GH₵40,000.
Further, the party announced it will release a certified delegates’ list to aspirants after the vetting process and grant female aspirants and persons with disabilities a 50 percent reduction in the filing fee.
Meanwhile, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that it will not field a candidate in the Tamale Central by-election in honour of the late MP, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who lost his life in the August 6 helicopter crash that killed eight people. Nominations close on Sunday, August 24.
