The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam George has reiterated government’s firm decision to halt MultiChoice Ghana’s operations by September 6, 2025, if an agreement to lower subscription fees is not ratified.
According to sources, the minister emphasized that the government remains steadfast in its position.
“On August 7, the National Communications Authority (NCA), under my instruction, issued a 30-day notice to suspend MultiChoice Ghana Limited’s license for failing to reduce their prices by 30%. Around two weeks ago, I met with the company and imposed a daily penalty of GHC10,000. They now owe approximately GHC150,000, which the NCA will collect,” he stated.
The ministry has already fined the company GHC10,000 per day for failing to submit key pricing information, leading to an outstanding total of about GHC150,000 as of Wednesday.
