Mahama Sanctions Appointees Over Asset Declaration Lapses

Written by Yad Media

President John Dramani Mahama has directed political appointees who failed to declare their assets by the March 31, 2025, deadline to forfeit three months’ salary to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as the Mahama Cares Fund.

Acting on a report from the auditor general, the president confirmed that several appointees in his administration disregarded the directive.

“I set March 31 as the deadline for all current and incoming appointees to declare their assets. According to the auditor general’s update, some of you missed the deadline,” Mahama stated.

He added that while all appointees must contribute one month’s salary to the Mahama Cares Fund, those who missed the deadline must pay an additional three months’ salary, making a total of four months’ salary.

Moreover, the President warned he will dismiss any appointee who fails to declare their assets by May 7, 2025.
