Sound engineer Kaywa, privately known as David Kojo Kyei, has revealed that some artists on his Highly Spiritual Music label were uncomfortable with the idea of Lasmid returning to the label.
In an interview, Kaywa addressed the circumstances surrounding the end of his professional relationship with Lasmid, citing limited financial resources as a major factor. He recalled that Lasmid was enthusiastic and committed in the early days of his career, especially after winning MTN Hitmaker.
“MTN gave him to me, and we signed a one-year contract. Even after it expired, he remained consistent—always in the studio. I took care of him, fed him, and continued to invest in his career,” Kaywa said.
He added that he recorded six songs with Lasmid in preparation for a possible return, but some artists on the label expressed discomfort, making it difficult to support everyone equally with the available resources.
