The Minister for Health, Kwabena Akandoh, has revealed that the government is in the final stages of processing the second Interim Payment Certificate (IPC) for contractors working on the La General Hospital project.
During an inspection visit to the site, some contractors raised concerns that financial constraints had slowed progress on the project.
Addressing their concerns, Mr Akandoh assured them that the ministry has initiated steps to release funds to maintain steady progress.
“The second IPC has been finalise and sent to the Ministry of Finance. Together with the Members of Parliament present, we have followed up, and the Ministry of Finance has pledged its commitment to release funds for the project. I am happy that the workers are currently on site and willing to continue work while awaiting payment.”
The minister further expressed confidence that the government will complete the hospital within the next two years, provided there are no unexpected setbacks.
