Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has announced that the Ministry of Health has obtained financial clearance to pay 17,909 nurses, midwives, and allied health interns who began their national service in early 2024.
Speaking to the media in Accra on Monday, October 13, Mr. Akandoh said that officials have renewed the clearance, originally set to expire on December 31, 2024, to allow full payment.
“The Ministry has secured financial clearance for 17,909 nurses, midwives, and allied health interns who started their national service early this year, as well as 13,500 health workers recruited and posted late last year,” he said.
Mr. Akandoh further assured all affected personnel that the government will clear the outstanding salary arrears and strengthen administrative systems to prevent similar issues in the future.
