The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has begun nationwide enforcement of its directive requiring all licensed gold buyers to use official GoldBod receipts.
In a statement on Monday, August 18, 2025, the Board emphasised that every transaction by licensed aggregators, self-financed aggregators, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers must include an official receipt.
To ensure compliance, GoldBod has deployed a task force and field inspectors across the country. Inspectors will check receipt booklets, and licensed buyers must present them and cooperate fully.
Further, GoldBod warned that buyers who fail to issue receipts commit a serious offence and risk sanctions, including suspension or revocation of their licences.
In addition, It encouraged buyers who need help acquiring receipt booklets to contact its Licensing and Regulatory Unit through dedicated hotlines.
According to the Board, the initiative promotes transparency and strengthens oversight in Ghana’s gold trade after several postponements and a grace period granted to traders to regularise their operations and secure the necessary licences.
