The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, will summon officials of the Israeli Embassy in Accra on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, after Israeli authorities detained seven Ghanaian nationals upon their arrival in Tel Aviv.
In a statement, the ministry condemned the actions of the Israeli authorities, describing the treatment of the Ghanaian travellers as a deliberate targeting of citizens.
“The incident was extremely provocative and unacceptable, and it went against the friendly relationship the two countries have shared for many years. Four of the people who were confine for more than five hours and released them only afterstrong diplomatic efforts were part of a parliamentary delegation attending the Annual International Cybersecurity Conference. Whereas, the remaining three travellers repatriated on the next available flight to Ghana.”
The ministry also dismissed Israel’s claim that the incident occurred because Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv failed to cooperate with deportation procedures.
