The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has launched a public awareness campaign urging travellers and airport users to take an active role in fighting extortion.
In a press release, GACL called on travellers to report any incidents of extortion involving staff from the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs), Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), and other supporting agencies such as Port Health, airlines, ground handlers, and private security companies operating at the nation’s airports.
The campaign, themed “Help Fight Extortion at Our Airports”, aims to eliminate illegal monetary demands, promote transparency, and enhance customer experience across all airport terminals.
