Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has announce that the government’s newly introduce digital system for collecting Value Added Tax (VAT) from non-resident platforms is likely to raise approximately GH¢2.3 billion.
Speaking during the presentation of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Thursday, July 23, Dr Ato Forson disclosed.
“Technology-driven reform is part of broader efforts to modernise revenue administration, improve tax compliance and expand Ghana’s revenue base. Cross-border technology solution underwent a successful pilot phase in April 2026.The pilot confirmed that the system is functional and secure.”
Further, the Finance Minister revealed that government is working to secure the required regulatory approvals to facilitate the nationwide rollout.
“Leveraging technology in tax administration is a key component of the government’s strategy to improve compliance and mobilising more domestic revenue without relying on increases in tax rates”
