The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has suspended the remittance partnerships of five Money Transfer Operators—Taptap Send, Top Connect, Remit Choice, Send App and Afriex for one month starting September 18, 2025.
In a statement released on Thursday, September 4, the Central Bank explained that the suspension follows violations of the 2023 Guidelines for Inward Remittance Services by Payment Service Providers, as updated by Notice No. BG/GOV/SEC/2025/25.
According to the BoG, the infractions involved unauthorised remittance transactions carried out with Payment Service Providers—Halges Financial Technologies Limited, Cellulant Limited, and Flutterwave Inc.—via their settlement bank, UBA Ghana.
“PSP or banking partners must reapply for approval before affected MTOs can resume operations, subject to the BoG’s assessment at the end of the suspension.”Part of press release
