Bank Of Ghana Dismisses Forex Shortage Claims

Written by Yad Media

The Bank of Ghana has dismissed reports of a forex shortage, assuring the business community that there is adequate foreign exchange in the system.

In a statement released by the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), the Central Bank urged traders not to panic, emphasising that it is working closely with commercial banks to investigate the reported delays in accessing forex.

“The Bank of Ghana has assured the business community that there is enough forex and that there is no need for alarm,” the statement said.

President of GUTA, Dr. Joseph Obeng added that the Central Bank is taking steps to resolve the issue and has encouraged members to report any persistent challenges.

This comes amid growing concerns from traders and importers who say the difficulty in securing forex is hampering their international transactions.
