The Chairman of the Funeral Planning Committee, Nana Effah Appenteng, has announced that all institutions within the Kumasi Metropolis will close on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in honour of the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
Speaking at a media briefing ahead of the four-day funeral rites, Nana Effah Appenteng confirmed that the ceremonies will begin on Monday, September 14, and conclude on Thursday, September 18.
“From Monday to Wednesday, the public will file past the body of the late queen mother between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. During the same period, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will sit in state from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
As part of the observance, all offices, including banks and other financial institutions, will shut down on Thursday, marking the final day of the rites.” He said
