Minister for Education Haruna Iddrisu has announced that Cabinet has approved the recruitment of 6,100 teachers, all belonging to the 2023 graduating batch.
Speaking to the media, the minister reiterated that the education sector continues to be Ghana’s largest employer, adding that addressing the concerns of unposted teachers remains a top priority for the government, with efforts already underway to place them in various schools.
“Education is still Ghana’s biggest employer. I’m aware that some of the teachers currently protesting in Accra are seeking answers from us. Cabinet has allow approval for the recruitment of about 6,100 additional teachers, all from the 2023 cohort”
This development comes after a peaceful demonstration by unposted teachers who took to the streets to demand their placements.
