The Minister of Works and Housing, Gilbert Kenneth Adjei, has announced that the Greenville District Housing Programme will provide 20 two-bedroom housing units in every district across the country.
Addressing the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Mr. Adjei said the initiative has entered a pilot phase in eight districts, with each receiving 20 two-bedroom units. He stated that,
“In its pilot phase, the program has commenced in eight districts: South Dayi, Asuogyaman, Akyemansa, Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Atwima Kwanwoma, Dormaa West, Bole, and Tamale. The projects are at various stages of completion. The project will adopt a hybrid construction approach that combines compressed earth bricks and sandcrete blocks to promote sustainability, cost efficiency, and structural resilience”
Further, Mr Adjei explained that the program operates as a district-level intervention that delivers decent and affordable housing, aligns with the government’s decentralization agenda, and advances broader housing policy objectives to expand access to affordable accommodation for low- to middle-income earners nationwide.
