The President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, has announced a USD 2 million increase in prize money for the winners of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
According to him, the winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League 2025/26 will receive USD 6 million, representing a 50% increase, while the winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup will receive USD 4 million, a 100% increase.
“The prize money for the winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League has increased from USD 2.5 million to USD 6 million, representing a 140% increase.
During the same period, the prize money for the winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup has increased from USD 1.25 million to USD 4 million, representing a 220% increase,” he said.
Reports indicate that the latest increases have raised the total prize money and solidarity payments to African clubs to more than USD 42 million per season, representing a 114% increase.
In comparison, CAF allocated USD 18.8 millionin total prize money to clubs in 2021, following its promise to improve club competitions and provide greater financial support to clubs.
