President John Mahama has signed the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Repeal Act 2025, formally ending the 1% levy on goods, services, and imports introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reports indicate that, parliament approved the repeal last month as part of the government’s effort to eliminate nuisance taxes and reduce the financial burden on households, businesses and extra charge from consumers and enterprises.
This follows the previous government introduction of the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy in 2021 under the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy Act (Act 1068), which it signed into law on March 31, 2021.
